THINGS TO SEE AND DO:
PETWORTH PARK
As you drive to The Little House you will see the walls of Petworth Park. This is a jewel in the crown of the National Trust with a truly outstanding art collection including numerous Turners. If you want to just walk in the grounds there are gates open all day and plenty of deer to be spotted in it’s 700 acres landscape designed by Capability Brown.
PETWORTH TOWN
Just nine minutes drive away is this perfectly preserved market town nestled in the heart of the South Downs National Park. Petworth has been voted the best antiques town in England along with also plenty of interior shops as well as a couple of good pubs and cafes. Also a handy Co-op.
GOODWOOD ESTATE
The eponymous sporting estate known for the Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and the Quatar Goodwood Festival is a thirty minute drive away. They do a very delicious afternoon tea there as well, well worth a visit.
COWDRAY ESTATE
The 16,500-acre, family-owned Cowdray Estate in Midhurst is the heart of the stunning South Downs National Park, steeped in history and heritage. A great spot to watch some polo, order wood fired pizza in the summer or indulge in some retail therapy with it’s lovely gift shop. There is also a large cafe here as well, dogs are welcome at the outside tables.
WEST WITTERING BEACH
A truly beautiful beach, renowned for its long stretch of golden sand and a haven for watersports. There are wondeful views of Chichester and the South Downs here. The beach also has the highest water quality and the excellant facilities have made it one of the premier Blue Flag beaches in the country.
SOUTH DOWNS NATIONAL PARK
The house is located within the park with its 160 km of national trails and bridleways. There are numerous footpaths accesible from the front door.
ROEBUCK ESTATE
Our local vineyard produces award winning sparkling wine. They host tours, wine tasting and seasonal events. This is walkable from the house, handy after a tasting !
LANGHAM BREWERY, PETWORTH
If ale is more to your taste Petworth has an award winning independant brewery producing cask-conditioned real ale and keg beers. There is a shop and bookable tours as well.
STAR GAZING
The South Downs National Park is one of only 19 designated Dark Sky Reserves in the world. With the stunning landscape, several Dark Sky Discovery Sites, a planetarium in Chichester and an annual Dark Skies Festival, this area is really special for stargazing.
